Volunteers
The history of southwestern Ohio is something to be proud of and that pride is what our volunteers enjoy sharing with the public. HSO offers to volunteers a variety of benefits, including free admission to special events and programs, monthly Newsletters, education workshops, social events, incentive awards and an annual recognition banquet.
Volunteer interpreters dress in 19th century attire and convey the past to the present.
Our special events, such as Annual Opening Day, Civil War Weekend, Harvest Fest, Haunted Village and Holly Days are unique opportunities to engage our guests in historic experiences, interact with them and exhibit special hands-on activities. Our Education Department offers an opportunity to work with school groups in the many different education programsin operation at HSO. General office volunteers are just as valuable in keeping our site running smoothly. If you prefer more of a “behind the scenes” position, entering data, stuffing envelopes, compiling information packets, are a few of tasks that are equally as important.
Maintaining historic sites such as Heritage Village takes a lot of hard work and dedication from many talented individuals of different backgrounds. Whatever your special skill or interest: teaching, gardening, art, textiles, carpentry or music. There is something for you at HSO! No volunteer experience is necessary. HSO provides all training and attire.
