Cal Whitson – Feb. 8, 2019

Cal Whitson was a Deputy U.S. Marshal in the Indian Territory, working under “Hanging Judge” Isaac C. Parker in the latter part of the 19th Century. A rough-and-tumble, one-eyed Civil War veteran, Whitson was one of the primary inspirations for the immortal character of “Rooster Cogburn” in True Grit. Actor and living historian Gavin Kelly—who has also portrayed Tecumseh, the Shawnee Prophet, Sam Houston, and Generals U.S. Grant and Jubal Early—brings this colorful, fascinating, and little-known character to life in a unique first-person presentation that sheds light on not only the man, but the times in which he lived.

Gavin has participated in the first-person program series as General U.S. Grant, General Jubal Early, and Sam Houston.
