Stitches & Stories: Needlework in the World of Austen – Tarina Laxton & Cynthia Harvey – 12:30-1:30pm
Explore how Austen wove embroidery and sewing into her novels, from the quiet accomplishments of her heroines to the social and symbolic meaning of needlework. We’ll trace the threads of these moments across her works and bring her world to life. Austen used the art of stitching to reflect character, class, and creativity. Participants will learn the satin stitch–a technique Jane herself excelled at–and use it to create a charming embroidered silhouette of Jane Austen. This workshop offers a cozy, enriching way to honor both literary and domestic artistry. 1 hour. 20 students. $15 per student.
