Volunteer in the Gardens

We are looking for volunteers to help in the gardens. You can help with watering, weeding, or other tasks. You can volunteer for one day or multiple days. Some tasks don’t have a set time. The first time you volunteer, we will arrange for a Master Gardener to meet with you and show you how to do the task. If you would like to get more involved in gardening at the village, there are opportunities to “adopt a plot,” which would entail taking care of one specific garden plot/area on an ongoing basis.

To volunteer please contact Bethany Jewell for the schedule: bjewell@heritagevillagecincinnati.org

Join a Committee

We are currently looking for volunteers to join several committees.  Joining a committee is a great way to become involved! the following committees are looking for additional members:

Gardening One per month on a Thurs. at 1 p.m. Gardening committee members will be responsible for planning, planting, and maintaining period-correct flower gardens in the Village.

Volunteer Hours Time Sheet

Why are Volunteer Hours so important?

Volunteer hours are not only important because they keep Heritage Village physically running with volunteers doing everything from collections, exhibits and Education Programs, to building and grounds or vital office work, but also because recorded volunteer hours have a fiscal impact on Heritage Village. As a non-profit organization which relies heavily on grants to keep us going, we use recorded volunteer hours to show not only the amount of community support Heritage Village has, but volunteer hours are also calculated and used as a financial resource which can help increase our chances of receiving grants. Prospective grantors need a complete picture of all the resources available to our organization and since we are so dependent on volunteers, this is especially important to illustrate that we have adequate staff (volunteers are considered “unpaid staff”) and resources on hand to actually achieve the goals for which we apply for grants. Some grants even require that nonprofits match a portion of grant funds, and the value of volunteer time can qualify toward that match.
